NIA extension project set to get NEDA OK

MANILA, Philippines - The extension project of the National Irrigation Administration aimed at improving irrigation service delivery has inched towards approval by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA).

The NIA said the NEDA Investment Coordination Committee-Cabinet Committee has approved the requested ad referendum for its Participatory Irrigation Development Project (PIDP).

The PIDP targets to improve irrigation service delivery on a financially and technically sustainable basis that will contribute to increased agricultural production and productivity among beneficiary farmers in irrigated areas.

The NEDA has approved NIA’s request of a one-year and six months loan extension from Feb. 27, 2017 to Aug. 31, 2018.

It also supported the reallocation of loan proceeds  amounting to $8.4 million and the revision in the results framework and appraisal document.

Furthermore, NEDA gave the green light for the increase in loan financing percentage for civil works from 72 percent to 100 percent and consulting services from 68 percent to 100 percent.
