Napocor hikes power output in 3 Quezon towns

MANILA, Philippines – Three Quezon towns are now enjoying 24-hour power supply ahead of the May 9 elections as the National Power Corp. (Napocor) raised the capacity of its power asset in the province.

In a statement, the state-run firm said electricity supply was increased from 16 hours to 24 hours in Polilio, Burdeos and Panukulan municipalities.

Napocor raised the power supply through its Polilio Diesel Power Plant to buoy economic, tourism and social development in those areas.

About 5,171 households, 82 commercial establishments and 236 public buildings are now benefiting from the longer electricity service.

Polilio is part of the country’s priority areas for biodiversity conservation as it is host to lush green forest that contains rare species of trees, birds and animals.

The island also has potential for tourism development with its low-lying mountains on top of its light brown sandy beaches.

Napocor said the strengthening of the power supply in Quezon province and other missionary areas is part of its commitment to bring economic and social progress in the far-flung areas.

To meet this commitment, the state-run agency has fortified its partnerships with various local government units and electric cooperatives throughout the country to energize the farthest islands in the nation.
