New Montero drives Mitsubishi sales
MANILA, Philippines – Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) said it was off to a good start this year with robust January sales driven by the all-new Montero Sport.
MMPC said yesterday it sold 4,867 units last month, 14 percent higher than that recorded in the previous month and 50 percent more than January 2015 sales.
Of the total units sold last month, MMPC said almost a third were accounted for by the all-new Montero Sport with 806 units and the previous generation Montero with 816 units.
MMPC said it has started delivering the all-new Montero Sport to the more than 3,000 buyers who have reserved a unit.
“In spite of the issues that hounded the Montero Sport last year, we are truly delighted with the outcome of total reservations received as well as actual sales turnout last month. It confirms the market’s confidence in the Montero Sport brand,” MMPC first vice president for marketing Froilan Dytianquin said.
“I believe that you cannot really put a good product down. We are also pleased that sales of the predecessor Montero model which we intend to continue selling also sold 200 times more than last December. I believe that in spite of the introduction of the new generation model, they still find this GLX model to have outstanding value for money proposition,” Dytianquin added.
MMPC is targeting to sell 70,000 units this year, 29.4 percent higher than its 2015 sales of 54,087 units.
Dytianquin earlier said MMPC is looking to sell this year some 18,000 units or about 1,500 units a month of the all-new Montero Sport.
