Bid submissions for regional airports PPP set on Feb 29

Louella Desiderio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) has set the bid submission date for the regional airports project under the public-private partnership (PPP) program.

Transport Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya said in a meeting held at The Philippine STAR yesterday the bid submission date for the project is on Feb. 29.

“We expect to award it by March or April, assuming no sore losers or people going to court,” he said.

The regional airports project is being offered in two bundles. Bundle 1 is composed of the P20.26 billion Bacolod-Silay Airport and P30.40 billion Iloilo Airport. Bundle 2 covers the P2.34 billion New Bohol (Panglao) Airport, the P40.57 billion Davao Airport, and P14.62 billion Laguindingan Airport.

The winning group for each bundle will handle the operations and maintenance of the airports for 30 years.

The private partner will likewise be responsible in expanding the facilities.

Five groups have been pre-qualified for the regional airports project. These are: San Miguel Holdings Corp.-Incheon International Airport Consortium; Philippine Airports Consortium (Metro Pacific Investments Corp., Aeroports de Paris Management S.A. and TAV Havalimanlari Holdings A.S.); Maya Consortium (Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc. and VINCI Airports); GMR-Megawide Consortium; and Filinvest-JATCO-Sojitz Consortium.
