MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) has moved anew the deadline for the submission of bids for the operations and maintenance of Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT 2) to give interested firms more time to prepare their offers.
In a bid bulletin, Edwin Lopez, chairman of the Pre-qualification, Bids and Awards Committee and Undersecretary for Operations and PPP Implementation said the new deadline for submission of bids has been moved to March 8, from Jan. 26.
The winning firm will handle the operation and maintenance of the existing LRT 2, the construction of the 4.14-kilometer East Extension, and any other future extensions of the train system during the project’s term.
The government and the private partner will have a cooperation period of 10 to 15 years for the project.
The government has earlier awarded the LRT Line 1 Cavite Extension and operation and maintenance project to the consortium Light Rail Manila Corp. composed of Metro Pacific Investments Corp.’s Metro Pacific Light Rail Corp., Ayala Corp.’s AC Infrastructure Holdings Corp., and Macquarie Infrastructure Holdings (Philippines) PTE Ltd.
