MANILA, Philippines - Cellprime Distribution Corp., the maker of local mobile phone CloudFone, has forged partnerships with Korean automotive brand Hyundai, Chinese mobile phone manufacturer Gionee and other brands as part of its aim to grow sales.
In a briefing yesterday, Cellprime president Eric Yu said the company has been selected by Hyundai to collaborate on design and development of mid to high-end mobile devices.
He said Cellprime has also forged a partnership with Gionee to sell and market the latter’s high-end smartphone products in the country.
The sale and marketing activities for Gionee’s smartphones are expected to start in the first quarter.
Apart from Hyundai and Gionee, Cellprime has also entered into partnerships with other brands to enable users of its homegrown brand CloudFone devices to enjoy content and get their hands on various mobile accessories.
Yu said the company has partnered with digital music streaming service app Spotify to enable CloudFone Special Edition phone users with free data to enjoy the use of the app, earphones, headphones and casing in one bundle.
Cellprime has likewise tied up with Disney, Marvel and Star Wars to produce a range of accessories for CloudFone mobile phones and tablets.
The company also has a partnership with Microsoft for the Special Edition CloudFone Epic 8.0 tablet co-branded with Windows 10/Xbox, as well as with NBA and PBA for the CloudFone Special Edition phones to cater to sports enthusiasts.
Yu said the partnerships are expected to boost Cellprime’s sales for this year.
“The industry is still growing because there is still room for smartphone penetration. Smartphone penetration is expected to grow by over 50 percent this year and we want to get a big portion of that,” Yu said.
