MANILA, Philippines - Sales of Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) soared by over half last month to 2,093 units on sustained demand across its old and new models.
In a statement, HCPI said the number of vehicles sold in September rose 54 percent year-on-year, the company’s highest monthly sales to date.
HCPI attributed the continued strong demand for its models to product updates coupled with easy-to-own financing options.
“September definitely represents one of the best-selling months for Honda in quite a while. Our new models played a vital part in widening Honda’s appeal to Filipinos. We are ecstatic to be able to see more customers enjoying their new Honda vehicles. This makes HCPI’s 25th year anniversary even more memorable”, HCPI president and general manager Toshio Kuwahara said.
The company said Honda City remained its best-selling nameplate with 920 units sold last month, up 23 percent from the previous month.
Honda’s first seven-seater multi-purpose utility vehicle, the All-New Mobilio, also contributed a significant 26 percent to HCPI’s September sales, the company said.
The All-New Mobilio recorded its highest sales yet at 547 units, a 49 percent surge from August. It joins the City as Honda’s top-seller five months after its launch, HCPI said.
In the first nine months of the year, HCPI sales reached 14,260 units, seven percent more than the company’s total sales for the entire 2014.
Aside from its robust sales, HCPI said the company also takes pride in having met government’s directive for Euro 4 compliance ahead of the January 2016 schedule.
“This is HCPI’s proactive action to contribute to environmental sustainability. For 25 years, HCPI commits to the realization of a society where people can enjoy life and the joy of mobility,” the company said.
HCPI said it is pursuing the aggressive expansion of its vehicle line-up as it looks to add another vehicle in its portfolio by the end of the month.
The new model will be HCPI’s fourth vehicle launch this year and will mark its entry to the luxury vehicle segment.
