MANILA, Philippines - Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said he expects thousands of local job seekers to be employed when the $2-billion Manila Bay Resorts of Tiger Resort Leisure and Entertainment project in Entertainment City opens in December next year.
At least 1,600 local job applicants will be employed once Tiger Resort follows the city government’s policy of requiring companies to hire at least 20 percent of their employees from the pool of local applicants, Olivarez said.
Aside from job creation, Olivarez also expressed confidence the city’s revenue collections from economic zones administered by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority, including the 100-hectare Entertainment City, will increase dramatically starting next year.
After the expiry of the income tax holidays granted by PEZA to its accredited and registered locators, Parañaque will also be entitled to receive two percent of the gross income earned by the locators in lieu of national and local taxes, he said.
Furthermore, the local government would also continue to collect real property taxes and regulatory fees after the ITH expiry.
Tiger Resort is committed to deliver the biggest integrated resort casino property in the country and expect to employ over 8,000 people once fully operational next year.
The company is envisioned to be a world-class Las Vegas style development with luxurious hotels, classy restaurants, commercial facilities, residences and state of the art pool with real sand beach covered by a glass dome.
It will have two towers connected by a sky bridge with each tower having 15 floors, 500 rooms and an amazing view of Manila Bay and of the iconic dancing water fountain and light display within the property that will rival the fountains in Dubai.
Apart from the two hotels, there will be a 30,000 square meter casino with 500 table games and 3,000 slot machines.
Under the law, Olivarez said that companies should give priorities to local applicants who will be recommended by the city hall after undergoing a thorough screening, interviews, evaluation and job matching processes.
