RCBC Bankard launches redesigned credit cards with EMV chip technology

MANILA, Philippines - RCBC Bankard Services Corp. is set to present a set of its redesigned RCBC Bankard credit cards.

In a press conference, RCBC Bankard VP and marketing group head Angela Mirasol unveiled the redesigned credit cards that come embedded with EMV chips. It features four-wave vectors and hexagons lining the top and bottom. The four wave vectors represent better budget management, rewarding credit experience, world class travel privileges, and secure shopping, both in stores and online.

Cardholders of RCBC Bankard, issued and managed by RCBC Bankard Services Corp., can take advantage and enjoy several award-winning budget management tools like the Spend Monitor, a free SMS alert feature that informs the cardholders once they are about to reach their predefined monthly budget; Spend Analyzer, which summarizes the cardholders monthly and year-to-date spending according to categories and Unli Zero Percent, which allows cardholders to convert their straight purchases to three months zero percent installment by simply calling RCBC Bankards Customer Service number.

Recently, RCBC Bankard introduced the All-in Rewards Program which allows cardholders to earn points from partner establishments on top of the points they earn from their card’s rewards program.

RCBC Bankard partner establishments include Petron, Figaro, Angel’s Pizza, Florsheim, Jellybean, Folded & Hung, Naturalizer, and the Cravings Group. Customers can also avail of a flexible rewards program that allows the cardholder to shift from earning points, to earning Airmiles, to getting cash rebates.

For those travelling abroad, all card brands have top-of-the-line travel privileges. Cardholders can call the concierge service for information and assistance they may need for the trip. They can also relax at the luxurious Miascor lounge at NAIA 1 while waiting for their flight. Furthermore, RCBC Bankard comes with a free travel insurance and Purchase Protection Insurance for unforeseen events.

On top of the look and features, the new RCBC Bankard comes with heightened security with the new EMV chip technology. This EMV chip technology is fast becoming the global standard for credit card and debit card payments. Named after its original developers (Europay, MasterCard® and Visa®), this technology features payment instruments embedded on microprocessor chips and circuits that store and protect the cardholder’s data.

The new EMV chip embedded credit cards also have chips that randomly generate unique codes during every transaction, making it more challenging to duplicate and use. For online shoppers, there is also the ShopSecure feature which allows cardholders to nominate an online Personal Identification Number (PIN). Alternatively, cardholders can get a Webshopper, a reference device issued specifically for online shopping.
