Texas Instruments invests $10 M for Clark expansion

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Semiconductor firm Texas Instruments, Inc. is pouring in additional investments of about $10 million to expand its operations in Clark Freeport Zone, the state-run Clark Development Corp. (CDC) said.

CDC said Texas Instruments broke ground on Thursday for its $10 million expansion project on product distribution center.

Texas Instruments is a global semiconductor design and manufacturing company which began operations in 1979 through its manufacturing facility at the Baguio City Export Processing Zone.

In 2009, the company expanded its operations with the opening of its second manufacturing site at the Clark Special Economic Zone.

Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) director general Lilia De Lima said Texas Instruments is among the top five corporations in the Philippines today as it has positively affected almost 180,000 Filipinos for generating direct and indirect jobs.

“We are indeed very happy about the presence of Texas Instruments in the country,” De Lima said.

Among the 3,500 companies in PEZA, De Lima referred to the semiconductor firm as the “most prized gem” for being the top employer and exporter in the Philippines.

For three consecutive years, Texas Instruments (Philippines) has received the PEZA’s Billionaire’s Award for its average export of $3 billion annually.

The Billionaires Award recognizes companies that export goods or services worth at least $2.5 billion a year.

Aside from being a top employer and top exporter in the country, the firm was also awarded by PEZA for its environmental and community development projects.
