Sterling Bank, Uber link up in promo

MANILA, Philippines - Sterling Bank of Asia, one of the leading savings bank in the country, has partnered with Uber to bring cashless convenience to its commuting customers.

Sterling Bank of Asia executive vice president Ralph Cadiz said the partnership would give clients their first Uber ride for free.

“At Sterling Bank of Asia we want to give our customers the convenience and ease in their transactions. With this Uber partnership, we extend the accessibility to their commuting needs. This tie-up reinforces the Bank’s strategic approach of introducing innovative and convenient solutions for our customers,” Cadiz said.

Sterling Bank of Asia is the first savings bank in the country to partner with Uber with this promotion.

First time Uber users who would sign-up using a Sterling Bank of Asia Visa Card would get one free trip worth up to P300.

To avail of the free trip, cardholders must register in Uber either through website or install the Uber mobile application in their smartphones and enter STERLINGBANK in the promotions field.

Cadiz pointed out the importance of implementing out-of-the-box programs in a crowded banking industry.

“Tie-ups similar to the Uber promo will never cease to be attractive. The Bank’s continued growth will be based on its intent to innovate since the start of its inception,” he added.

The promotion running from Aug. 6 to Dec. 31 is valid within Metro Manila only even if Uber app can be accessed internationally.

The free trip with Uber is valid with Sterling Bank Visa card products such as debit card, prepaid card, loan card, NEO savings account card, Bayani OFW card, gift card, US dollar prepaid card, and iRemit card.

Using Sterling Bank of Asia’s debit and prepaid cards for their transactions, customers get the benefits of better security with the card’s EMV chip technology. It also offers worldwide functionality by allowing one to use the cards in millions of locations all over the globe, via phone and online, while keeping within budget.

Starting with nine branches when commerced operations in 2007, Sterling Bank has been aggressive in expanding its branch reach with the acquisition of Centennial Savings Bank in 2009.

The bank currently has 41 branches strategically located in Metro Manila and key cities in other provinces.
