Manila Water completes individualization project in Rizal
MANILA, Philippines - More than a thousand residents in two barangays in Cainta and Antipolo in Rizal province would have individual access to potable water by February next year with the completion of the the P50.8 million ‘individualization’ project of East Zone concessionaire Manila Water Co. Inc.
Manila Water spokesman Jeric Sevilla said 1,100 households in Filinvest East Homes in Brgy. San Isidro, Cainta and Mayamot in Antipolo City, which are currently served under a bulk water arrangement, would benefit from this water project that started in February this year.
Sevilla said the project is expected to be completed by February next year.
“The individualization project is part of Manila Water’s commitment to provide direct individual connections to all households within the East Zone to our water network,” Sevilla said.
Part of the individualization program includes the replacement of the entire water reticulation system of the subdivision to comply with existing standards to address water losses and ensure the quality of water.
Manila Water currently serves 6.3 million in the Metro Manila east zone concession area that covers parts of Quezon City and Makati, the southeastern parts of Manila, Taguig, Pateros, Marikina, Pasig, San Juan, Mandaluyong, and Rizal province.
While lessening its dependence on the East Zone concession area through partnerships with small provincial water districts, the company is still conducting improvements in its main concession area.
It even recently launched for commercialization a bottled water business for its unit Manila Water Total Solutions Corp. positioning for expansion its new bottled water business with greater market coverage and establishment of five more bottling plants.
Ferdinand de La Cruz, Total Solutions president, said early this month five new bottling plants for its Healthy Family Purified Water are pipelined for establishment this year in addition to the existing plant in Taguig that purifies 5,005 gallons of water daily.
Lined up for establishment are plants in Taytay, Pasig, and Quezon City. The company is also scouting for locations middle of Metro Manila and South of Metro Manila for the two other plants.
This is meant to support the expansion of the distribution network of the product in Metro Manila East Zone as well as in selected areas of Quezon City and Metro Manila outside of the East Zone.
