Cavite e-trike operator offers service via text

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Electric vehicle maker and operator Kea Industrial Corp. is pioneering an electric tricycle (e-trike) booking service through text in Cavite.

Kea will pilot test the text-based e-trike reservation scheme for its customers in Bacoor, Cavite.

Kea vice president Edmund Araga said the company is always on the lookout for innovative programs to introduce to their customers.

Among these innovations is the three charging stations for the existing e-trike fleet.

“We are the first to introduce e-trikes in Bacoor, the first to put up commercially viable charging stations in the country, and now we are pioneering the first text-based e-trike reservation scheme. So now, getting an e-trike is as easy as ordering for home delivery of fastfood meals,” Araga said.

The text-based booking service follows the model of modern transport solutions such as Uber, a mobile-based application which connects commuters to drivers through crowd-sourcing.

Araga said these innovative solutions are driving local transport players to become very creative in their business approach.

“We want to introduce a safer and more modern way of enjoying our transport system. With our text-an-e-trike scheme, patrons may text their complete address in Bacoor and our next available e-trike will pick them up and bring them to wherever they want to go. Everything will be coordinated by our central control office. It is safe and efficient,” he said.
