Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas remains most trusted government office for 4th year – MBC

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) remained perched on top of the most trusted government agency list of the country’s leading business executives for the fourth straight year.

The latest report by the Makati Business Club (MBC) yesterday showed the BSP maintained its hold as the top government agency after receiving the highest positive net satisfaction scores from senior business executives surveyed by the group.

MBC executive director Peter Perfecto said the BSP has been ranked as the top government agency for the fourth consecutive time, “owing to its continuing satisfactory work in maintaining the country’s macroeconomic and financial stability, despite external threats from overseas.”

BSP received a net satisfaction score of 90.8, followed by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority and the Department of Tourism with a net score of 84.4 and 81.8, respectively.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and the Philippine Atmos-pheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) tied at fourth with a net score of 78.8.

Completing the top 10 best performing agencies are the Department of Finance, Department of Trade and Industry, Securities and Exchange Commission, Board of Investments, and the Civil Service Commission.

MBC said 38 out of the 64 government agencies and offices included in the survey received positive net satisfaction ratings, of which 31 of these agencies improved on their rankings from 2014.

The most improved agencies based on their rankings from 2014 are the Senate (+26), House of Representatives (+13), Department of Trade and Industry, Board of Investments, Office of the Ombudsman and Department of Budget and Management (all got +11).

Twenty-four agencies, however, received negative net satisfaction ratings, with the Office of the Vice President (64th), Department of Transportation and Communications (63rd), Bureau of Customs (62nd), Department of Agriculture (61st), and the Energy Regulatory Commission (60th) landing at the bottom five.

The offices that experienced the largest drops in net satisfaction are the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process, Office of the Vice President, and the Department of Health.

The 2015 MBC executive outlook survey was administered via fax and online survey among MBC members from July to August this year.

MBC said the start of hearings at the Arbitral Tribunal of the United Nations Convention on the Laws of the Sea on the territorial disputes in the West Philippine Sea, the formal takeover of Police Director General Ricardo Marquez as the chief of the Philippine National Police, fifth and final State of the Nation Address of President Aquino, and the formal endorsement of President Aquino of Interior Secretary Mar Roxas as the administration’s 2016 standard-bearer were among the major events which occurred during the period.
