SMDC opens first condo with own mall, cinema

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - SM Development Corp. (SMDC) has opened its newest residential mall at Light Residences in Mandaluyong, the first under the company’s portfolio to offer a digital cinema.

Dubbed as Light Mall, the residential mall is SMDC’s fourth residential mall together with Jazz Mall in Makati, Sun Mall and MPlace Mall in Quezon City.

SMDC said Light Mall would have a total leasable area of 12,672 square meters that would “offer utmost convenience to its residents with its roster of dining options and services.”

“With Light Mall, we wanted to offer our residents the utmost convenience, a home where they can entertain family and friends at the cinema and dine at a number of restaurants just a few floors down; a home where they can avail of multiple services and readily access mass transport systems to take them to work, school or any other destination of their choice,” said SMDC executive vice president Jose Mari Banzon.

As anchor tenants, Light Mall will house Savemore, Watsons, Automatic Centre, Ace Hardware, BDO and National Bookstore.

It also boasts of a digital cinema seen to cater not only the condominium’s residents but its neighboring communities as well.

“Imagine just going down the elevator to catch the latest on the big screen with Light Mall’s three state-of-the-art digital cinemas with approximately 100 seats each,” SMDC said.

Light Residences is a three-tower residential condominium development launched in March 2010.

The condominium is located at Madison St. corner EDSA and is linked to the Boni-EDSA MRT station.

“We have our residents’ needs in mind with every new development. This is our motivation as we harness the synergies of the SM Group of companies to bring special lifestyle offerings to the communities where we operate,” Banzon said.
