La Ó, Valdepeñas join Insular Life board

MANILA, Philippines - Insular Life chairman of the board and chief executive officer Vicente R. Ayllón recently announced the appointment of Luis C. la Ó and Victor B. Valdepeñas to replace Alfredo B. Parungao and Dr. Bernardo M. Villegas who retired early this year.

Luis C. la Ó is currently the chairman of the board of Mapfre Insular Insurance Corp. He was formerly the regional vice president for Asia of Mapfre Group, Spain, president of Provident Insurance Corp. of the Soriano Group, and former senior vice president of Universal Reinsurance Corp. of the Ayala Group.  La O graduated from the Ateneo University with a degree in B.S. Management, and received his masters degree in Business Administration from the De La Salle University.

Victor B. Valdepeñas is currently the president and chief operating officer, and board director of Union Bank of the Philippines.  He is also chairman and president of Union Currency Brokers Inc.  Prior to his present position in Union Bank, he was the vice president and country treasurer of Citibank N.A. Valdepeñas earned his undergraduate and masters degrees in Economics from the University of the Philippines as a University Scholar and a UP Wisconsin Fellow Scholar, respectively.  He is also a candidate for a doctorate degree in Economics from the same university.
