Businesses to worry no more about data loss with PLDT’s new file recovery service

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines —  PLDT SME Nation recently launched the Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS), a service that can recover data for small and medium businesses.

"In this day and age, it’s best to prepare your business data against any future catastrophe, be it a typhoon, an earthquake or internal and external hackers," PLDT first vice president and head of SME Nation Kat Luna-Abelarde said.

DRaaS is a cloud-based service that recovers data for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) without the need of expensive computer hardware or complex technology.

Through the service, the SMEs can establish a secure, cost-effective and seamless data back-up system even without having to build and operate their own remote back-up site.

"Our DRaaS offering ensures that a company never needs to worry about permanent data loss no matter the damage, and that they can be up and running shortly after whatever disaster they have suffered," Abelarde said.

"SMEs realize cost savings by side-stepping the problems of device obsolescence, since PLDT’s DRaaS infrastructure is continually updated, and also by not having to maintain redundant infrastructure in order to cope with uncertain activity demands," she added.

She also noted that without such preparation, any unexpected event can severely disrupt the operation, continuity, and effectiveness of a business.

SME Nation is the support arm of PLDT for small and medium enterprises.
