MANILA, Philippines - The Manila North Tollways Corp. (MNTC) is showcasing seamless travel when using the NLEX in an interactive exhibit at The Block in SM City on EDSA from Feb. 9 to 11, next week.
The exhibit, which engages visitors to experience being captured by radar for speeding, or being checked for being overloaded by a weighing scale, is one of the highlights of the tollway firm’s celebration of its 10th anniversary.
“The NLEX’s exciting showcase features anything and everything about the country’s finest expressway,” said Marlene Ochoa, MNTC vice president for corporate communication.
“Our goal is to enable our visitors at the exhibit to experience ‘driving through’ the NLEX in a simulated fun way with the 10th anniversary theme: The Essential NLEX or TEN.”
“Such simulation,” she added, “is a daily real experience of our thousands of motorists using the NLEX going to and coming from the provinces.”
The exhibit highlights NLEX’s gleaming roadway renowned for its smooth pavement, its world class safety systems, a toll booth and a photo gallery of NLEX’s famous systems, its state-of-the art control room, and its smiling tellers and patrolmen.
“NLEX will remain the best ten years from now and beyond,” Ochoa said.
She recalled the NLEX opened its toll plazas exactly a year ago in February 2005, when MNTC officials passed through a toll plaza to signal the start of commercial operations.
The NLEX was formerly the North Diversion Road run by the Philippine National Construction Corp. (PNCC). MNTC acquired the usufructuary rights from PNCC and rebuilt the roadway matching the highest standards in tollway infrastructure and systems.
