Ford sales up 53% to 20,341 units in 2014
MANILA, Philippines - The local unit of American carmaker Ford Motor Co. ended 2014 with all-time high sales of 20,341 units fuelled by strong demand for its vehicle lineup.
In a statement, Ford Philippines said its total sales for 2014
increased by 53 percent from 13,286 units the previous year
Driving the record-high sales was the Ranger which became the country’s top-selling pickup truck, having received six prestigious
awards and sold 7,996 units last year, up 70 percent from 4,691 units in 2013.
“The Ranger continues to be regarded as the benchmark among pick-up trucks in the market today and our record sales is a testament of this,” Ford Philippines managing director Kay Hart said.
The EcoSport compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) launched last year, was Ford’s second best-selling nameplate in the country with full-year retail sales of 5,203 units.
Also contributing to the all-time high sales performance was the Everest SUV which delivered a record full-year performance with retail sales climbing by 11 percent year-on-year to 3,137 units.
The Explorer SUV likewise boosted the company’s full-year sales as the model’s retail sales rose by five percent to 1,083 units from 1,035 units a year earlier.
For the month of December alone, the firm’s total vehicle sales jumped by 56 percent to 1,903 units from 1,223 units.
“It’s been a remarkable year from beginning to end, and we’re
extremely proud of how the Ford brand and our full lineup of global Ford vehicles continues to connect with, and be valued by, so many Filipino customers,” Hart said.
For this year, the company intends to make available four new vehicle models: Escape, Mustang, Expedition and Everest, as well as open new dealerships to continue to grow its sales.
To date, there are 36 Ford full-service dealerships in the country.
“With the launch of more global Ford vehicles on the way, and the expansion of our nationwide dealer network continuing, we are committed to going further in 2015 and making the Ford brand even more accessible to our customers across the Philippines,” Hart said.
