MANILA, Philippines - Themed “Piling-Piling Produktong Pilipino,” the DTI SikatPinoy National Trade Fair runs from Dec. 3 to 7, at SM Megatrade Halls 1-3 in Mandaluyong City.
Among the products offered at the fair are popular delicacies from the regions, health and wellness products, fashion, jewelry, furniture, home décor, knick-knacks, collectibles, and other novelty gift items.
The SikatPinoy National Trade Fair brings to Metro Manila the best products from the regions. There are about 250 exhibitors, with special attention to 40 SMEs from Regions 6, 7 and 8, areas that were devastated by the Bohol earthquake and Typhoon Yolanda in 2013.
The latest statistics show that as of 2012, there were 944,897 business enterprises operating in the Philippines. Of these, 99.58 percent are categorized as micro, small and medium enterprises. Only 0.42 percent are large enterprises. Moreover, the SMEs generated a total of 4.93-million jobs in 2012, as compared to 2.66-million for large enterprises. This means that SMEs contributed almost 65 percent of total jobs generated that year.
The DTI-Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion organizes national domestic trade fairs to provide Filipino entrepreneurs with a venue to showcase their products and expand their market presence. Earlier this year, SikatPinoy fairs were organized for food, fashion, art, and furniture and furnishings.
