Vivant Energy expands

MANILA, Philippines - Vivant Energy Corp. (VEC), is set to expand its capacity by 17MW as it takes management and control over “strips of energy” from the Unified Leyte Geothermal Power Plants (ULGPP) next month.

In October 2013, VEC won several strips of energy from ULGPP in a bidding conducted by the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. (PSALM).

Located in Tongonan, Leyte, the ULGPP geothermal power complex has a total capacity of 588.5 MW. Last year, PSALM successfully bid out strips of energy to VEC and other independent power producers.

The turnover was delayed, however, following a status quo request from the Department of Energy due to damage sustained by ULGPP caused by Typhoon Yolanda. PSALM finally confirmed the effective turnover date to VEC on Dec. 26, 2014 to coincide with the expiration of its supply contracts.

VEC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Vivant Corp.
