Finance chief meets Japanese counterpart to discuss partnership opportunities

MANILA, Philippines - Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima on Thursday discussed collaboration opportunities between the Philippines and Japan in a courtesy call to Japanese Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Taro Aso at the latter's office in Tokyo.

Purisima and Aso discussed opportunities to spur development in the Bangsamoro area, the rehabilitation of communities affected by typhoon Yolanda and technical and financial assistance in infrastructure development.

The finance chief was joined by Philippine Ambassador to Japan Manuel Lopez during the visit.

He is in a non-deal roadshow with Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson, Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez, Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan, Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Teresita Herbosa, Public-Private Partnership Center Head Cosette Canilao and Treasurer Lea De Leon.
