Peso sheds 5 centavos on Tuesday

MANILA, Philippines - The peso declined against the dollar on Tuesday, closing 5 centavos weaker at 44.23 from the previous day's 44.18.

Total volume transacted at the Philippine Dealing System amounted to $1.032 billion, higher than the $728.7 billion posted on Monday.

The peso opened Tuesday at 44.2.
