SM Advantage, AIG ink agreement

MANILA, Philippines - The recent tieup between the American Insurance Group and the SM Advantage will provide SM shoppers the opportunity to enjoy shopping through rewards points and getting insured through AIG.

The tie-up was formalized in a memorandum of agreement signed by American Insurance Group (AIG) president and CEO Mark Lwin and AIG SAVP for accident and health Tess Caraan with SM Advantage president Baldwin Golangco and SM Advantage SAVP for loyalty program Cristina Schneck at the Philam Tower in Makati City.

Under the agreement, SM shoppers can get insured at the American Insurance Group using their SM Advantage Card, and SM Prestige Card points.

Shoppers may opt-in to avail themselves of the AIG Insurance plan. SM Advantage cardholders who have accumulated 70 rewards points are automatically enrolled to the AIG personal accident insurance program for one year. Twenty rewards points will be needed for the personal accident insurance program for one year. The accident insurance package includes accidental death and disability benefit and accidental burial expense reimbursement.

While SM Prestige cardholders who have accumulated 100 rewards points is automatically enrolled to the AIG personal accident and travel insurance program for one year. Forty rewards points will be enrolled to avail the personal accident insurance program and travel insurance program for one year. This includes an upgraded personal accident Insurance of up to P150,000, travel inconvenience benefit for a maximum of 15 days and medical expense reimbursement.

Members must be between 18 and 70 years old.

There are a lot of other Insurance programs that members can choose from such as income protector plan, hospital advantage plan and prime care advantage plan.

Points can be earned by shopping at the SM Store and other SM Retail stores include SM Supermarket, ACE Hardware, Watsons, Toy Kingdom, Sports Central, Our Home, Uniqlo, Forever 21, SM Appliance Center, Kultura Filipino, Suiteblanco, Stefanel, and L’Indochine.
