MANILA, Philippines - Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales has named Overall Deputy Ombudsman Melchor Arthur H. Carandang as the anti-graft agency’s Investment Ombudsman.
By virtue of an Office Order that took effect on June 1, 2014, she also created a so-called Investment Ombudsman Team (IOT) under the Public Assistance and Corruption Prevention Office (PACPO).
The group is now primarily tasked to handle matters that concern the private sector’s dealings and business transactions with the government.
Carandang will be appearing before the American Chamber of Commerce Inc. (ACCI) on July 22 at the Corinthian Plaza Building in Paseo De Roxas, Makati City to brief the organization of the mandates of the IOT.
Ombudsman Morales’ decision to appoint an Investment Ombudsman came less than a year after she also named Deputy Ombudsman (DO) for Luzon Gerard Mosquera as the anti-graft agency’s Environmental Ombudsman.
Based on the ACCI Trade and Investment Committee’s invitation for its event, the designation of an Investment Ombudsman is the anti-graft body’s contribution to enhancing integrity in the business climate toward achieving the national goal of sustainable economic and inclusive growth.
