MANILA, Philippines - Ericsson has appointed new heads for its three regions to further strengthen its market position and accelerate transformation and growth across the globe.
Appointed were Rafiah Ibrahim for the Middle East; Sam Saba for Southeast Asia and Oceania; and Charlotta Sund, Northern Europe and Central Asia.
Aside from their roles as heads of the three regions, they will also become members of Ericsson’s Global Leadership Team.
Hans Vestberg, Ericsson president and CEO, said the company’s new heads bring different market relevance and experience to their teams and their respective regions.
“But above all, they have shown that they are leaders with strong commercial drive and have relevant knowledge of the respective markets. Their appointments also strengthen the diversity in Ericsson’s leadership team and I am happy that two women (Ibrahim and Sund) will now lead regions,” Vestberg said.
Ibrahim, currently head of Ericsson marketing broadcast services, has over 30 years experience in telecommunications industry. She was country manager of Bangladesh, head of global customer units, and chief of former market unit North Africa.
Ibrahim said: “Region Middle East is a key market for Ericsson, and I believe there are many opportunities for further growth and development. We are committed to help our customers realize their visions and continue to build the Networked Society in the Middle East.”
Saba, currently head of Customer Unit Indonesia, has held a variety of senior sales and operations roles in Southeast Asia and the Middle East, including leading Ericsson business with Telstra, and operations in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.
“It is rewarding to have the opportunity to work closely with a variety of customers and support them in their growth strategies,” Saba said.
On the other hand, Sund has 25 years experience in the telecommunications industry and her positions in Ericsson included heading product and business development. She was the head of Multimedia and Systems Integration for former market unit Nordic and Baltics.
She has long experience in developing business with new customer segments as head of Ericsson Customer Unit Industry and Society.
