New steel roofing facility opens

MANILA, Philippines - Union Galvasteel Corp. (UGC), the country’s top manufacturer of pre-painted steel roofing materials marked the opening of its new color coating line (CCL) through a simple inauguration ceremony in its main plant in Calamba, Laguna.

Welcoming the guests which included company officials, industry partners, suppliers, customers, employees, and representatives of the local government of Calamba, the president and CEO of UGC Arthur M. Florendo noted with pride this milestone project for the conversion of a continuous galvanizing line (CGL) into a color coating facility with advanced coating technology which transformed a galvanizing process into a color coating production line for steel roofing.

Present during the opening were the board of directors of UGC, led by its chairman, Oscar J. Hilado who pressed the ceremonial button that signaled the official run of the new line.

The affair was also graced by the president and CEO of Phinma, the mother company of UGC, Ramon del Rosario Jr. In his remarks, Del Rosario acknowledged the resilience and perseverance of UGC people, in this project for the conversion and operation of the new color coating line, which some people thought undoable and impossible.
