MANILA, Philippines - Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad), through its wholly-owned subsidiary Philippine Hydro, Inc. (PhilHydro), recently signed a 20-year bulk water supply contract with the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC), for the latter’s Ciudad de Victoria development.
Ciudad de Victoria is a 75-hectare complex that sits at the border of Bocaue and Santa Maria in Bulacan. Once completed, the mixed-use development would include a university, medical facility, chapel, housing project and the world’s largest dome-arena – The Philippine Arena.
Maynilad Corporate Comunications Office explained that the PhilHydro-INC water supply contract involves the phased delivery of 10,000 cubic meters per day (CMD) of potable water to Ciudad de Victoria.
“For the first two years beginning July 2014, PhilHydro will provide the INC complex with 2,000 CMD of water. From year three until year five, PhilHydro will double its bulk water delivery to 4,000 CMD. The full 10,000 CMD of water supply will be delivered to Ciudad de Victoria by year 2028.â€
Philhydro would spend more than P250 million to lay over 17 kilometers of pipelines to connect Ciudad de Victoria to the company’s Norzagaray water treatment plant. PhilHydro sources its raw water supply from Angat River in Bulacan.
Established in 1999, PhilHydro is a private water company that supplies treated water to local water districts. Its customers include the local water districts of Norzagaray (Bulacan), Sta. Maria (Bulacan), Bambang (Nueva Vizcaya) and Legaspi City (Albay). PhilHydro also treats and distributes potable water to the Municipality of Rizal in Nueva Ecija.
