MANILA, Philippines - Sun Life of Canada (Phils) Inc. was recognized for being among the top taxpayers in the city of San Juan for the year 2013, after it ranked 6th among the top ten taxpayers of the city, making it a significant contributor to the local government’s vision.
San Juan Mayor Guia Gomez presented the plaque of appreciation to Sun Life chief finance officer Raymond Ong and Sun Life chief marketing officer Mylene Lopa during the awarding ceremonies held recently, in line with the celebration of the city’s 107th founding anniversary.
“We are very honored to receive this award because Sun Life takes to heart its role as a partner in nation building,†Ong said. “Sun Life is a good corporate citizen and we always make sure to comply with the company’s responsibilities with regard to paying our taxes.â€
Sun Life paid over a billion pesos in various taxes in 2012 and this is not the first time that the company has been bestowed such an award. It was also recognized by the Quezon City government for being among the city’s top taxpayers in the year 2010.
