Gionee picks Davao as jump-off point
MANILA, Philippines - Gionee Communication Equipment Ltd. Co. has picked Davao City as the jump-off point for its Mindanao expansion and recently opened its first-ever concept store in the region at the 3rd floor, near Spazio of Gaisano Mall in Davao City.
Davaoeños, armed with vastly improving purchasing power, no longer need to go far to get their hands on high-end, superior yet affordable smart phones.
Gionee, manufacturer and retailer of smart phones that received acclaims for being the best in their categories, made sure its lineup of offerings, which include the Pioneer P1, P2 and P3, GN708, Elife E3 and E6, among others, will be made available to Davaoeños.
Former Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, Gionee’s brand ambassadress, served as guest of honor at the opening rites of the Gionee Concept Store. She warmly and enthusiastically welcomed Gionee and company officials in Davao.
“Davaoeños, with exquisite tastes, deserve the best smart phone brand in the world,†Duterte said, adding Gionee smart phones are “efficient, effective, reliable yet affordable.â€
Banana Telecoms president and CEO Wilson Lu, who also owns Wiltelcom, one of the biggest phone retailers in Mindanao, has partnered with Gionee in this venture which offers the full line of Gionee products, from low to high-end smart phones and devices.
“Davao, being the premier province in the Mindanao region, is a key destination for our expansion program,†Gionee Philippines mobile head Katrin Salanga- Gregorio emphasized, noting that the opening of the concept store is part of Gionee’s aggressive expansion as it hopes to solidify its presence in all major cities in the country within the year.
Gregorio added Davao’s sizeable population with a burgeoning middle class is perfect for the company’s campaign to bring Gionee to the consciousness of people who are looking for the best alternative to the popular yet expensive brands of mobile devices today.
