MANILA, Philippines - Veteran author-journalist Cecilio T. Arillo has been elected president of the Philippine Council of Management (Philcoman), a non-profit federation of professional and technological societies, academe, business enterprises and professional managers dedicated to the development of management and improvement of its practices in all aspects of the Philippine society. Also elected are Dr. Pedrito Salvador, vice president; Dr. Gina Gagarin, treasurer; Dr. Emily Hagad, secretary; Dr. Tim Acedo, auditor; Dr. Roger Berosil, Dr. Robert Lim Joseph, Dr. Aldwin Sanchez, retired generals Danilo Lim and Reynaldo Ordonez, Dr. Rey Carpio, Dr. Ernie Gonzales, Dr. Bernard Garganilla, Dr. Lope Santos, Prof. Marion Christopher Arillo; Engr. Chris de la Pena; and Dr. Ed Olleres, members of the Board; Dr. Ben Santos, president emeritus; and Council of Advisers, Dr. Emmanuel T. Santos, Chairman; and Dr. Nerza Rebustes, Dr. Bernardo Paco, Dr. Ferdinand Sarfati and Dr. Anne Tan-Yee, members. Philcoman was founded in 1954 by 10 associations and organized groups under the inspirational guidance of Dr. Lilian M. Gilbreth and Dr. Daniel M. Braum, (the latter was chief of the Training branch, US Government’s General Services Administration), both were on extended assignment in the Philippines, who provided the inspirational guidance. Dean Cesar H. Concio was the first Philcoman president serving until 1963.
