Sun Life offers dollar denominated policy with investment component

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Maximize your dollar’s earning potential with Sun Life’s MaxiLink Dollar One Dollar investors ideally pursue the financial instrument that will yield them the most potential risk-reward return. Now, financial institutions offer prospective clients with more investment choices based on their risk appetite and fiscal objectives. Some put their funds in traditional instruments, while others play in the global market to diversify their investments.

Sun Life Philippines offers the Sun MaxiLink Dollar One. This is the dollar version of one of Sun Life’s best sellers, Sun MaxiLink One, launched in 2011.

Sun MaxiLink Dollar One is a single premium, dollar denominated life insurance with investment component product that allows one to maximize the earnings of his dollar by investing into potentially high-yielding global funds. Available funds to invest in are the global income fund and the global opportunity fund.

The global income fund invests only in foreign currency-denominated high-quality fixed income and fixed income-linked instruments that are classified as average to below average risk, while the global opportunity fund taps into dollar-denominated mutual funds, dollar-denominated exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and any securities similar to said funds.  Notable mutual funds invested in by these two funds include, the FTIF Templeton Global Bond, PIMCO GIS Total Return, Blackrock Asian Tiger Bond, MFS Meridian Global Equity and FTIF Franklin Mutual Global Discovery.

An advantage among related products in the market, Sun MaxiLink Dollar One has no premium charges. Thus, a minimum single premium of $ 10,000 is invested in full, resulting in a faster accumulation of fund value. Moreover, the product provides for a life insurance coverage equivalent to at least 125 percent of the single premium, up to age 88.

“Sun MaxiLink Dollar One is a smart alternative that can provide higher earning potential for your dollars, compared to other traditional USD dollar investment instruments which might depreciate over time because of inflation.  With the product’s life insurance coverage, you can be assured of securing your loved ones’ future aside from making your dollars grow,” says SLFP chief marketing officer Mylene Lopa.

Policyholders who keep their Sun MaxiLink Dollar One policy active for at least 10 years may also enjoy a loyalty bonus. Although not guaranteed, the loyalty bonus may be credited to the policy in the form of units, currently equivalent to two percent of the policy’s past 5 years average fund value, at the end of the 10th year and every five years thereafter as long as the policy is in force.

â€œSun MaxiLink Dollar One is designed for dollar investors who wish to benefit from long-term investment while protecting their families through life insurance,” Lopa said.

Interested customers may also enjoy hassle-free application and policy approval through the guaranteed insurability offer, subject to certain limits of the company.

Sun Life of Canada (Philippines), Inc. pioneered life insurance in the Philippines in 1895. Today, Sun Life of Canada (Philippines), Inc. is one of the largest and most trusted life insurers in the country with over a million group and individual life policyholders and is boosted by the strength and stability of Sun Life Financial shares in the Philippine Stock Exchange.

The company is currently backed by over a thousand employees and 5,000 financial advisors, 42 branches, 30 inter-branch sales offices and five financial stores nationwide. It ranked number one in total premiums in 2012.
