PLDT unit expands solutions to cement leadership

MANILA, Philippines - PLDT Alpha Enterprise, a unit of dominant carrier Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT), has expanded its line of business solutions to cement its leadership in providing cloud-based solutions to the local enterprise market.

PLDT executive vice president and head of Enterprise and International and Carrier Business Eric Alberto said the company has launched several offerings as a service in the PLDT Cloud suite.

The company has also broadened its line to include PLDT Cloud Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) with Microsoft Office 365.

 â€œOur continuous investments in fortifying our network is best complemented by our Cloud solutions as we future-proof not just PLDT but more importantly our customers by enabling them to benefit from these technologies that have become the norm in more developed economies,” Alberto said.

The new PLDT Cloud services enable communication-reliant and bandwidth-heavy businesses like those in the Business Process Outsourcing, Banking, Retail, and even government to maximize on their connectivity for their essential operations to run more efficiently and effectively.

PLDT Cloud UCaaS is a cloud-based solution that unifies IP telephony, presence, mobility, unified messaging, and collaboration applications for enterprise users across all industries.

It shifts the paradigm for Unified Communications for enterprises by eliminating the need for on-site private automatic branch exchanges (PABX) and other equipment.

PLDT Cloud PaaS gives enterprises the ability to develop and deliver various applications with unprecedented ease.

Enterprise developers could begin creating their applications in a standard Web browser using pre-built templates, significantly reducing development lead-time thanks to an 80-percent drag-and-drop and 20-percent coding model.

Jovy Hernandez, first vice president of PLDT and head of PLDT Alpha Enterprise, said companies have realized the advantages of essential information technology processes in the cloud because of its accessibility and the ease of use and faster implementation.

“With PLDT Cloud, enterprises get the benefit of minimizing costs on their yearly expenditures as the costs for these solutions become part of their operational costs. Other costs that businesses can save on are continuous licensing expenses, upgrades, hardware maintenance, and personnel that are already packaged into the PLDT Cloud,” he said.
