Daikin projects sales of P1.5B

MANILA, Philippines - Daikin Airconditioning Philippines, Inc. projects sales of P1.5 billion by the end of fiscal year 2014 as it launches new products and expands its dealerships.

Jed Caburian, sales operations division manager of Daikin Airconditioning Philippines, told reporters yesterday the firm intends to achieve higher sales of P1.5 billion by the end of fiscal year 2014 from an estimated P900 million at the close of fiscal year 2013.

The firm’s fiscal year ends in March and begins in April.

Daikin Airconditioning Philippines closed fiscal year 2012 with P707 million worth of sales.

“The higher sales will come from increased dealerships and product launches,” Caburian said.

He noted that from almost 150 dealerships now, the firm intends to bring the total number to 200 by the end of fiscal year 2014.

Ryuta Hayashibara, sales planning deputy division manager of Daikin Airconditioning Philippines said in the same event the firm is set to introduce new products this year.

“For the residential market, we will launch five new products,” he said.

These are the Urusara, European series, Daikin Smart, Daikin Smart Elite and Daikin Comfort.

For the commercial segment, Ryuta said the firm is also introducing five new products.

While window type air-conditioning units are more popular in the Philippines given its affordability, Daikin Airconditioning Philippines which sells only split-type air-conditioning units, is looking to increase its market share in the Philippines.

The firm currently holds a 30-percent market share in the split-type air-conditioning market.

Ryuta acknowledged that while split-type units may be more expensive than the window type units, it is energy efficient and allows consumers to save in the long run.

Daikin Airconditioning Philippines which distributes air-conditioning products in the country, is part of Japan-based Daikin Group, the world’s leading manufacturer of air-conditioning equipment and systems for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
