Best practices seminar for financial controllers

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Center for Global Best Practices (CGBP) will hold a special CPE-accredited seminar entitled “Best Practices for Financial Controllers” on Feb. 27 and 28, Thursday and Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Edsa Shangri-la Hotel in Mandaluyong City.

Some businesses don’t have financial controllers. Others do but don’t have a clue or a complete idea about how the controllership function works, while many overlap this vital function with their CFOs. When the controllership function is used properly, it could have the greatest company-wide impact that could boost the profitability of any business. Every business should know how this function really works.

There is no school for controllership. This seminar is the only best practices program geared to help current and future financial controllers to mold them in their right role to maximize their potential, improve their soft and hard skills, and create real value for the benefit of their business organization.

This best practices learning event will feature Ma. Concepcion Bernadette Declaro who is presently the COO and a board director of Alsons Corp.. Prior to this, she was the CFO of Two San Isidro-SIAI which is part of the Alsons Group. She will share her wealth of experience having headed the controllership of the parent company and subsidiaries of Petron Corp. (2004 to 208). She will provide valuable insights on how to connect the controllership function to the overall operations of a company given her experiences in being the vice president of corporate planning and services of Petron (2008 to 2010). The seminar will also feature Mary Jane O. Rosales, CPA, CIA who will share her knowledge and extensive experience having spent most of her career handling finance, controllership and risk management functions in Petron Corp.. She was the president of The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) in the Philippines in 2008.

Whether you are an aspiring accountant who wants to move up to the next level, a controller who aspires to be the best, a CFO who wants to make his controllers more effective, or the board director and senior decision-maker in management who wants to wear the controller’s hat, this program is guaranteed to be extremely useful. This program is also highly recommended for business owners who want to professionalize the controllership function to cover areas of business such as planning and controlling of operations, sales, marketing, manufacturing, R & D, payroll, and general administrative activities and expenses. This is applicable to MNCs and SMEs. “This one-time event is the first of its kind, and is definitely a must for any business.
