MANILA, Philippines - Listed cement manufacturer Lafarge Republic, Inc. is investing in a new grinding mill for its Norzagaray plant to meet increased cement demand.
In a regulatory filing yesterday, the company said the new mill, which would be commissioned in the second quarter of 2015, would produce 850,000 tons of cement annually.
Investment in the new grinding mill was approved by its board of directors on Jan. 28, the company said.
The new mill would supplement the output of the new mill in its Teresa Plan in Rizal province which is set for commissioning in the first quarter of 2015.
The Teresa mill, for which the company is expected to invest at least 25 million euros, would likewise have an annual production capacity of 850,000 tons.
The combined production of the two new mills would significantly expand the company’s present annual production capacity of six million tons of cement, enabling Lafarge to meet increased demand for cement amid the growing economy.
Lafarge manufactures the cement brands Portland, Pozzolan and Type 1P. It sells its products in 40-kilograms bags or in bulk at 800 kilograms and 1,000 kilograms per load in bulk carriers.
Lafarge maintains manufacturing plants in Bulacan, Batangas and Rizal.
