7th North Batangas Summit to convene at Lima Park Hotel

MANILA, Philippines - Business leaders, investors, industry stakeholders, local government units, and members of the academic community will gather on Jan.  29, 2014 for the  7th North Batangas Summit at the Batangas Grand Ballroom of the Lima Park Hotel in Malvar.

A biennial event started in 2002 by the First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities (FAITH) in Tanauan, the 7th North Batangas Summit is a venue where various stakeholders present and discuss plans and programs for the sustainable development of the emerging Metropolitan Area of North Batangas.

This year’s summit focuses on branding and promoting the Batangas trade and tourism. Guest panelists are Louie Mencias, consultant of Bluewater Consultancy who will speak on the topic Sustainable Tourism Master Planning, and Environmental Education. 

This will be followed by a talk on “Managing Business Growth, Protecting the Environment” by Cristina Tabora, Eco-tourism Project head of the ABS CBN Foundation Inc.

To showcase the current efforts for Batangas Tourism is Vice Governor Jose Antonio “Mark” Leviste II, who also chairs the province’s Committee on Tourism, History, Culture and the Arts.

The summit also features the major events in North Batangas in the field of history, education, technology, and community development that includes the Bisita Batangas 2014; the celebration of the sesquicentennial birth of Gat. Apolinario Mabini; the Digital Map of North Batangas; K to 12 Senior High School; Calabarzon Consortium of Engineering School; and Calabarzon Infrastructure updates.

The North Batangas Corridor is made up of the two cities of Lipa and Tanauan and the six municipalities of Malvar, Balete, Sto. Tomas, Talisay, Laurel, and Malvar.

Meanwhile, the pre-summit event Calabarzon Trade and Industry Roundtable gathers investors who will be presented with the opportunities and challenges of doing business in Batangas. Slated also on the 29th right before the North Batangas Summit, this economic briefing aims to present current economic trends and developments directly impacting on business in Batangas.

PEZA board member Francis Ferrer will talk about how to do business inside an industrial park. Ma. Victoria Magsino of the Policy and Planning Group of PEZA will discuss the support extended by PEZA to its member-locators.  This will be followed by Community Relations Officer PSupt. Florendo Saligao of the PNP who will present safety, security, peace and order in the Calabarzon. Finally, noted economist Dr. Bernardo Villegas will lecture on the current economic landscape of the country.

The 7th North Batangas Summit is co-presented by Lima Park Hotel, First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP), and C.P. Reyes Hospital of Tanauan and supported by Lima Land Inc., Light Industry and Science Park-Laguna, Bangko Kabayan, and the Municipality of Tanauan.
