Peso further weakens midday Wednesday

MANILA, Philippines - The peso moved closer to 45:1 territory against the dollar midday Wednesday after settling at 44.961 compared to 44.815 yesterday.

Total volume transacted at the Philippine Dealing System amounted to $411.4 million as of Wednesday afternoon, slightly lower than the $413.6 million posted during the same period yesterday.

The peso has dropped to 40-month low on Tuesday after closing at 44.815.
