PSE starts week in the green

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) started the week in the green with the benchmark PSE index gaining 97.79 points or 1.67 percent to close at 5,940.76.

The broader all shares index similarly rose with a 31.26-point or 0.87-percent improvement at 3,628.57.

All subindices were in the green, led by the financials subsector which added 22.66 points or 1.96 percent to close at 1,439.32.

Biggest gainers included Imperial Resources, Inc., Benguet Corp., Yehey Corp. and Prime Orion Philippines, Inc. Losers, on the other hand, were led by Top Frontier Investment Holdings, Inc., Pacifica, Inc., Leisure and Resorts World Corp. Warrants, Agrinurture, Inc. and Manila Mining Corp.

Total volume amounted to 1.071 billion valued at P5.986 billion.

Advances overwhelmed decliners 103 to 57, while 40 issues remained unchanged.
