MANILA, Philippines - Trans-Asia Oil and Energy Development Corp. of the Phinma Group is eyeing to put up a 415-megawatt Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Plant in Batangas, documents from the Department of Energy showed.

Trans-Asia, a listed power generation company, is eyeing to put up the plant inside the Tabangao Refinery of Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Co. in Batangas.

Trans-Asia is already conducting feasibility and pre-engineering studies on the proposed San Isidro Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Plant project and is also in the process of obtaining environmental clearance from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

“Work on the CCG development by Trans-Asia Oil is proceeding. Trans-Asia Oil and its consultants are performing a feasibility and pre-engineering study,” documents from the Energy department also showed.

The target is to commence commercial operations in the third quarter of 2017.

The plant hopes to utilize Shell’s planned LNG import terminal, documents showed.

“A grid impact study is currently underway,” documents also showed.

Trans-Asia is planning to sell electricity produced by the plant to both the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM), the country’s trading floor for electricity and through long-term bilateral contracts.

“Trans-Asia will be the sole marketer of electricity generated from this power facility,” the Energy department said.

Trans-Asia has various investments in the energy sector. The company has power generation businesses by itself and through South Luzon Thermal Energy Corp., Trans-Asia Power Generation Corp. and CIP II Power Corp.
