MANILA, Philippines - The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP), the country’s transmission system operator, has extended support to Davao del Norte Cooperative (Daneco).

NGCP recognized Daneco, the cooperative affiliated with the National Electrification Administration (NEA) as the sole entity controlling and supervising the cooperative.

In a board resolution sent to the management of the power grid operator, Daneco lauded NGCP for recognizing Daneco-NEA as the sole entity controlling the cooperative and as its customer.

Board Resolution No. 286, Series of 2013 was approved by Board President Gregorio T. Ybañez and confirmed by NEA Project Supervisor for Daneco Godofredo Guya.

Nelson Cabangon, NGCP’s head of corporate affairs said the mutual cooperation with Daneco would help ensure steady power service to Davao residents and those in Compostela Valley.

“We are focused on helping our grid customers. We trust and believe in our customers in the same manner they trust and believe in us. This mutual trust and cooperation ensures the quality of electricity and service that we deliver to the public,” Guya said.

At present, Daneco distributes power to 16 municipalities and two cities in two provinces, namely Compostela Valley and Davao del Norte.

NGCP’s regular maintenance activities and rehabilitation projects aim to enhance the reliability and quality of electricity delivered to grid-connected customers like generators, distributors like Daneco and large customers.

NGCP is a privately owned corporation in charge of operating, maintaining and developing the country’s power transmission network.

It is a joint venture between State Grid Corp. of China and Henry Sy Jr., the eldest son of mall magnate Henry Sy, whose company operates the SM Mall chain.
