MANILA, Philippines - Gregorio Santillan Navarro is the president of the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) for 2014. Greg Navarro will be the 65th president of MAP since its inception in 1950.
Greg is the managing partner & CEO of Deloitte Philippines/Navarro Amper & Co., and president of Deloitte Philippines Outreach, Inc.
He is also the president of the Philippine Dispute Resolution Center Inc. (PDRCI), a member of the board of visitors of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) and a Fellow of both the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) and the Institute for Solidarity in Asia (ISA).
He is a member of the Philippine Financial Reporting Standards Council, a Trustee of the CIBI Foundation and former president and current treasurer of The Carl Jung Circle Center Inc. (CJCC).
He was the 2010 president of the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX), Governor of the MAP in 2010-2011, and the former managing partner & chief executive officer of Punongbayan & Araullo. He earlier started his career at SGV & Co.
His expertise in public accounting is augmented by 10 years as a senior executive at Atlantic, Gulf & Pacific Co. of Manila, Inc., where he handled engineering and estimating, business development, procurement and international marketing.
Greg is a recipient of the Young PICPA Achiever Award from the Philippine Institute of CPAs (PICPA) and an outstanding alumnus award from the University of the East, as well as the 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of CPAs in Public Practice (ACPAPP).
Greg has an Accounting degree from the University of the East and obtained the second highest overall rating in the CPA licensure examinations of October 1976. In 1992, he participated in the Ernst & Young Partner Development Program at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University in the US. He also completed the Senior Executive Program of the Columbia Business School in New York in 2003.
His good governance advocacies include assisting a number of Criminal Justice Colleges in training and developing case studies in ethics and good governance for FINEX. He has edited and published a handbook on the OECD Corporate Governance Principles, containing selected local case studies on good governance and has published a number of case studies on Applied Ethics.
He has facilitated a worldwide forum, involving students in many parts of the world sponsored by the World Bank Institute, on combating corruption and improving governance.
Navarro will lead the MAP in 2014 along with other illustrious Board members including Tomasa H. Lipana, Independent Director of QBE Insurance (Philippines) Inc., as vice president; Dr. Donald Patrick Lim, chief digital Officer of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp., as treasurer; Romeo L. Benardo, president of Lazaro Bernardo Tiu & Associates, Inc., as assistant treasurer; and Benedicta Du-Baladad, managing partner of Du-Baladad and Associates (BDB Law), as Secretary.
The other Board members are Teodoro S. Del Mundo Jr., Chairman and CEO of Eon The Stakeholder Relations Firm; Alfredo E. Pascual, president of the University of the Philippines (UP); Carlos S. Rufino, president of The NetGroup – Real Estate & Project Management; and Peter Wallace, chairman of Wallace Business Forum.
