Taiwan Trade Center to open Mla office
MANILA, Philippines - Taiwan Trade Center (TTC), the foremost non-profit trade promotion organization in Taiwan, is set to open its 60th overseas office in Manila on Dec. 4.
TTC said the move is in keeping with the goal to strengthen economic and trade relations between the Philippines and Taiwan.
Dr. Chih-Kang Wang, chairman of TTC, will personally host the opening ceremony which will be staged in Makati Shangri-La Hotel, Makati City.
Officials from the Philippine government, members and officers of the local chambers of commerce as well as local industry associations have been invited to grace the occasion.
TTC helps promote foreign trade and is regarded as the foremost non-profit trade promotion organization in Taiwan.
Jointly sponsored by the government, industry associations, and several commercial organizations, TTC assists Taiwanese businesses and manufacturers in enhancing their competitiveness in foreign markets.
TTC boasts of a well-coordinated trade promotion and information network of over 1,200 trained specialists stationed throughout its Taipei headquarters, four local branch offices in Hsinchu, Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung, and overseas branch offices worldwide.
Bilateral trade between the Philippines and Taiwan reached $10.9 billion in 2012, according to figures from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines (TECO).
TECO said Taiwan was the 6th biggest trading partner of the Philippines last year. It is also the 8th biggest contributor to foreign investments in the Philippines.
