TOKYO, Japan – Fuji Xerox Co. Ltd., the world leading enterprise for business and document management services, is unveiling 20 models of its full-color, digital multifunction devices (MFD) in Asia Pacific to boost global sales and maintain its leadership in the region.
Fuji Xerox president and representative director Tadahito Yamamoto said the launch of the new MFD is also in line with the company’s plan to further increase the share of its services business from 27 percent in fiscal year 2012 to 30 percent of total company sales by the end of fiscal year 2013, and reaffirm its commitment to ‘’graduate from being a copier company and become customers’ partner in the fields of document services and communications.’’
‘’Copiers and printers occupied 72 percent of our sales in 2007 but has dropped to 64 percent in 2012, while services business which is a total of our production services and global sevices has increased from 20 percent to 27 percent. We want to further boost this services business ratio to 30 percent by the end of fiscal year 2013,’’ Yamamoto said.
In a presentation before a group of journalists from the Asia Pacific region, Fuji Xerox corporate vice president and president of Asia Pacific operations Masashi Honda said the new products – ApeosPort-V C and DocuCentre-V C series – have incorporated the latest controller software to provide universal operability and software functions, further contributing to clients’ more efficient and effective business operations.
“All the la-test models are equipped with a large nine-inch control panel with menu screens featuring easy to understand, icon-based buttons for higher visibility,†Honda said.
“With flick- and- drag ope-rations, users can intuitively scroll, move to a next screen or preview. Fuji Xerox has enhanced the preview mode, allowing users to quickly confirm the document before printing or faxing it,†he added.
Honda said the new models have additional feature called Easy UI Solutions 2.0 that enables the customization of menu screens to suit each user’s needs.
“This additional feature allows users to efficiently operate the multifunction devices’ diverse range of functions, assisting a disruption-free efficient workflow,’’ Honda explained.
For example, the device can store individual user’s frequently used photocopying settings to quickly recall a combination of multiple settings. Finished images can be previewed to adjust the settings with minimal operations to prevent miscopying.
It also has a new feature that enables scanning by simply pressing the start button without ha-ving to configure complicated settings, even a first time user can easily scan a document.
“It detects whether the document is double-sided or single-sided, which direction it is placed, while automatically elimanating blank pages and adjusting document orientation, allowing anyone to use the scanning function swiftly to obtain the desired output.’’
Honda said all new models are incorporated with the Server-Less On-Demand print function which means users can print their documents from another multifunction device when the device which print instruction was initially sent to is in use. “This reduces time to wait for document output and prevents unnecessary output, thereby contributing to the reduction of clients’ total cost of ownership,’’he said.
Honda said the new models are using energy-saving technology that contributes to reducing power consumption and carbon dioxide immission by distributing power only to a section of the device that is needed to perform a function. “As only the required section is powered, the device does not make unnecessary noise. Users can operate on the control panel almost immediately to specify job settings while the other required sections are reactiviting,’’ he explained.
Another interesting feature which has been incorporated into 14 models in the full-color digital multifunction series is Fuji Xerox’s proprietary motion sensor technology called Smart WelcomEyes, with the human detection and facial recognition cameras.
“The human detection camera detects the movements of people around the multifunction device to determine whether one is going to use the device or simply standing in front of the device, making authentication simple and fast,’’ Honda said.
Fuji Xerox was established in 1962 as a 50-50 percent joint venture between Japan-based Fuji Photo Film Co.Ltd and US-based Rank Xerox Ltd (currently Xerox Ltd). In 2001, Fuji Film’s ownership in the company has been increased to 75 percent, with Xerox Ltd hol-ding the remaining 25 percent.
