MANILA, Philippines - Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain, has appointed Adel Al Saleem as its new country manager for the Philippines.
In his new role, Al Saleem will be based in Manila and responsible for driving the commercial performance of Gulf Air in the Philippines and building on existing strong relationships with the airline’s key travel agents and corporates. He will also oversee the airline’s airport operations.
With over 20 years’ experience and knowledge in the aviation industry, Al Saleem has been working with Gulf Air since 1992 in the operations and ground services department. He has held a number of positions within the airline across its network in Asia and the Middle East, including Bahrain, Kuwait, UAE, Iran, Bangkok and the Philippines.
Gulf Air’s acting chief commercial officer, Ahmed Janahi commented: “Al Saleem brings extensive operational and market knowledge to his new position as the Philippines’ country manager. The Asian destination is a key market for Gulf Air and we are looking to continue to increase our presence in this market.â€
Gulf Air has been connecting the Philippines to Bahrain for 37 years and currently operates a daily flight. Given its hub’s strategic location in the Middle East, the airline is well-positioned to connect passengers to several key destinations in the region and beyond with excellent connectivity via Bahrain to 24 countries including the popular destinations Dubai, Doha and Kuwait.
Gulf Air also has a successful codeshare partnership with Philippine Airlines through which customers have access to an extended network of over 29 destinations in the Philippines and 31 cities in Southeast Asia, South Asia and East Asia via its Manila hub.
