Brother gets recognition for consumer protection

MANILA, Philippines - For raising the bar on consumer protection, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has awarded the Gold Bagwis or “Certified Establishment” Seal to Brother Philippines. In awarding the seal, DTI underscored Brother’s efforts to promote balance between pursuing its business objectives while safeguarding the welfare of consumers.

The DTI Bagwis program is recognized by the ASEAN Committee on Consumer Protection as one of the country’s best practices in consumer protection. The seal is awarded after a thorough deliberation and evaluation by the DTI Bagwis National Certification Committee.

Brother Philippines was awarded the Gold Bagwis Seal of Excellence for the company’s compliance with all fair trade laws,  effective and efficient customer relations, store management operations, social commitment and responsibility, and being ISO 9001/14000 compliant. Brother also has two other ISO certifications namely, ISO 9001:2008 for Quality Management System and ISO 14001:2004 for Environmental Management System.

The Gold Bagwis Seal granted to Brother Philippines is the highest level of accreditation under the Service and Repair Shops Category. In particular, Brother was cited for its consumer welfare desks in all its dealers and distributors. The desk is aimed at providing accessible and speedy resolution to any complaints by consumers.
