MANILA, Philippines - The Filipino Inventors’ Society (FIS) has formed a cooperative to help budding Filipino inventors bring their inventions to the world and have access to other inventions.
Through the FIS Producer Cooperative (FISPC), the group now has a showroom and business center in Quezpon City, said FISPC president and general manager Popoy Oral Pagayon.
The FIS, the oldest and most active government-recognized organization of inventors, traces its roots way back to 1943. Its mission is to support the generation, production and marketing of indigenous inventions and technologies to help attain economic progress worldwide.
Pagayon said the FISPC can now provide a suitable, permanent venue to showcase the Filipino inventions which every enterprising inventor can be proud of.
Assistant Secretary of the Presidential Communication Operations Office Zaldy de Loyola has commended the FISPC for showcasing unique Filipino products many people were not aware of. Among them are the solar-powered lamp kits, solar-powered street lights, I-Dynamo power, and 2-Big Power—all of which are alternative sources of energy.
Pagayon said these products are suitable for remote areas where electricity is not available and are just in time for today’s erratic weather conditions.
