MANILA, Philippines - Property developers in Asia are advised to use energy efficient lighting systems in their building projects as it is expected to help them better manage their costs.
Thailand’s NCC Management and Development Co. Ltd. senior vice president Panithan Bumrasarinpai said in an interview, the use of LED (light emitting diode) lighting technology is being encouraged for upcoming projects of property developers as it would be beneficial in terms of managing their expenses. “If they use the LED technology, the entrepreneur can breakeven in just two years, †he said.
As LED lights emit more light but use only two to 17 watts of electricity, the firms are able to reduce their electricity consumption and dues.
And as LED lights can last for 10 years, there would be no need for firms to spend for the replacement of such in just a few years.
Bumrasarinpai said it is important for property developers to do their part in promoting energy efficiency as the positive economic performance of Asian countries would lead to higher power requirements.
“As Asia is booming, we (will) need more power supply,†he said.
Many Asian countries have already started to encourage the replacement of incandescent bulbs to energy efficient lighting systems to save on energy consumption.
