P25-M contract for MRT-3 magnetic cards awarded

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) awarded a P25-million contract to supply magnetic cards for the Metro Rail Transit Line 3

DOTC's Bids and Awards Committee told a state-run news agency on Monday that Banner Plasticard, Inc. was  chosen to supply the magnetic cards under BAC Resolution Number S-GS-PB-2013-25.

"Notice is hereby given that the contract for the Supply and Delivery of Magnetic Tickets will be awarded to Banner Plasticard Inc. in the total amount of Twenty Five Million pesos (P25,000,000) subject to submission within ten (10) days from receipt hereof a Performance Security valid until the Issuance of the Certificate of Acceptance," the notice posted last September 12 saod.

The card manufacturing firm is expected to deliver over 4.2 million high-quality pieces of magnetic cards which passengers will purchase and use upon entry to the train platform.

The pending delivery consists of 2.252 million pieces of single journey tickets and two million pieces of stored value tickets.

The supply and delivery of magnetic tickets for the MRT is intended to replace the old tickets

Plasticard was also awarded a similar contract last year amounting to P8.70 million.
