Globe expands LTE footprint
MANILA, Philippines - Globe Telecom, Inc. is expanding its Long Term Evolution (LTE) footprint as it is set to provide the internet technology to subscribers in the comfort of their homes.
In a statement yesterday, Globe said its broadband brand, Tattoo Home Broadband would bring its LTE coverage to close to 1,000 sites nationwide.
Through the home broadband LTE, households would have access to high-speed Internet that is ideal for watching high-definition videos, downloading and uploading large files, seamless video and music streaming, and voice-over-internet-protocol or VOIP calling with clear quality.
“Tattoo Home Broadband once again leads the industry as the first to offer the most advanced wireless broadband technology that is LTE for the home broadband market. With this latest offering, we are able to reach more households around the country who initially did not have access to high-speed broadband,†Tattoo Home Broadband Head Jurist Gamban said.
“Now with the power of our largest 4G network, we can bring great value broadband services powered by the latest technologies to more people,†Gamban added.
Unlimited broadband bundles with free calls to Globe and Touch Mobile are available at Plan 1099 at one Mbps, Plan 1299 at two Mbps, Plan 1599 at three Mbps, Plan 2299 at five Mbps, Plan 3999 at 10 Mbps and Plan 4999 at 15 Mbps.
Internet-only plans that connect at three and five Mbps, meanwhile, are available at Plan 999 and 1999 respectively, both with unlimited web access.
The plan to expand the firm’s LTE coverage comes as it has enhanced its Home Broadband bundles.
All bundles, it said, come with high-speed internet, free landline, and free unlimited landline to mobile (Globe and TM) calls.
The unlimited calls feature is also available on the Tattoo Home Broadband LTE Plans.
Tattoo Home Broadband is available in key areas in Metro Manila and select cities in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
As of the first semester, Globe’s subscriber base rose by 14 percent to 36.1 million.
In the same period, its net income reached P1.4 billion, down from the P4.9 billion in the comparable period last year amid higher depreciation charges with the completion of its network modernization and transformation program.
